History of the old Nile’, ‘thou grave charm.”

History of
English literature is full of tragic women but there is no one who is as famous
as Cleopatra, the political cunningness in her nature and her sexual appeal
made her a persisting figure in both fact and fiction for decades

When Cleopatra meets Antony for the first time, she chose to
enhance herself as legendary creatures on a barge in the River Cydnus.
Enobarbus describe Cleopatra’s appearance in the play he said.

“In her pavilion – cloth of gold, of

O’erpicturing that Venus where we

The fancy out work nature”
(Shakespeare,1994, p.no 59).

This depicted
the impression of luxurious attire of Cleopatra like a Queen. (Adamson, 2007.)

The word “Queen”
means “A powerful women having authority”; Shakespeare represented Cleopatra as
the historical figure who ruled the country of Egypt. Antony and Cleopatra was
written by Shakespeare in 1606 and 1607 ( Moore, 2015).

Mondal (2013) in his research defined
Cleopatra as:

“The epithets applied to her perpetually by Antony and others
confirm this impression; ‘enchanting queen!’, ‘witch’, ‘spell’, ‘great fairy’,
‘cockatrice’, ‘serpent of the old Nile’, ‘thou grave charm.”
